This was without a doubt one of the very best restaurant experiences of our lives. We celebrated my wife's birthday on Saturday evening and the service, food, and ambiance were second to none. I was worried we would be underdressed but everyone seemed comfortable, from those wearing shorts and tshirts to those dressed formally. Jasper himself made fresh mozzarella at our table and using fresh local tomatoes and basil from his wife's garden, made us a caprese salad that was phenomenal. Our server was impeccable in her timing, and every dish we had was superb. If you want the best in Italian dining, you owe it to yourself to go to Jasper's.

The boyfriend and I were in the mood for some delicious Italian for dinner, so the time was right to try Jasper's. I have eaten at Marco Polo's several times (their attached location for sandwiches, premade meals, etc.), so was expecting Jasper's to be just as amazing. We walked in on a weeknight around 6, and were seated right away. The place is very nice inside, but we felt very underdressed, so get your most beautiful outfit before dining here! The service was a little slow at the beginning. We were both very thirsty on this hot June day and waiting for some water. We had to ask for it twice before getting some, with a 5-10 minute wait between asking. After that initial slowness though, the service was good. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, and it was really delicious. I ordered a chicken dish with proscuitto and fontina cheese and my boyfriend got a seafood pasta dish with calamari, shrimp, and scallops. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. We were too full for dessert, but agreed we will have to get some next time we dine here (instead of the appetizer). They bring around a dessert cart and those desserts looked amazing. We definitely enjoyed our experience here, but be prepared to spend some money. Our bill was just under $80 with tip. I did not see prices online so wasn't sure how much it would be. Most meals were between $25-30, so it was a little pricier than I anticipated. Definitely an awesome place for a special occasion, though. I look forward to returning!

We decided to try this place in lieu of going to Fogo de Chao. A big jump, I realize. But, we were pleasantly surprised, if a little overdressed. But we had a great meal, and the service was impeccable. The owner came by to ask how we were doing, and it didn't feel rushed like a lot of times when owners/chefs come by and make a show of pressing the flesh. I got the cioppino, which was decent, but not fantastic. I would have loved a little more body and spice in the tomato broth. The seafood were well cooked, though, and that makes a whole difference in the dish. But it was nice and light, which is what I was after. My husband got the cannelloni, which he really enjoyed. We also got the tableside mozzarella, which the owner did for us, narrating the entire time. It was delicious, and you definitely don't need the dinner salads that come with your entree if you get that. It's $10/person, so I wouldn't do it every day, but it was awesome. We also got the gigantic ball of white chocolate gelato covered in a chocolate shell for dessert. I can't remember the name of it, but all of the desserts looked really great. More than enough for two people.

Well I have eaten at Jaspers numerous times and always enjoyed it, but tonight was off the chart, I had the Pork Osso Bucco and my wife had the Pasta Nanni, they were both outstanding. We followed it up with the Peach Napolean, that is as good as any dessert ever.

By far one of the best Italian restaurant I dined in. The food is fantastic, service is impeccable, people super nice and down to earth. The menu allows for plenty of choices. Prices are very reasonable for the experience. The icing on the cake was mozzarella made in front of us, at the table. We learned the process and tasted what is the freshest mozzarella one can get. Excellent experience. Will definitely visit this place again when in town.

I'm Italian - so I'm a little jaded when it comes to Italian restaurants. Jaspers is consistent. He offers a great option to diners who are not experienced in Italian food. He is a great supporter of the Italian community and supports culinary and oenophile activities in KC. Jasper offers great Italian food but you must realize, every Italian geographic area is not represented in his menu offerings. I like his table side mozzarella prep- you should see it once. Creamy, rich sauces aren't my thing - if they are yours you will love his menu. As a Sicilian, I like red hearty spicy , garlic laced sauces ......you can find them on the menu and they will " doctor" it if requested. Try and take advantage of wine/food pairing dinners that he offers.

Been away from KC for 2 1/2 yrs and have looked forward to returning to this favorite. Nothing has changed same owners and a few regulars who recognized us. Food was top notch as was the service. I highly recommend Jaspers to anyone interested in upscale Italian fare!

Our eventual waiter, Kyle, knocked it out of the park. He understood good service and was über-personable. Thanks Kyle!!

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Jasper's yet! This place is wonderful! The decor is really the only thing holding me back from 5 stars- it just needs some updating. Better lighting would be good too. I get the whole 'low light ambiance' thing, but this is extreme- I could barely see my table mates. The service is consistently great- we are always greeted warmly. The wait staff is very enthusiastic and knowledgable, although it can get pretty loud in the dining room areas, and sometimes it's hard to hear the servers. Geez can you tell I'm almost 40?! Complaining about the light and the noise haha! But they are very small complaints. The real star of the show, and why you should definitely go here, is for the food. It's out of this world delicious!!! They have all the classic Italian dishes you'd expect, traditional favorites that taste like they were made from scratch using family recipes, as well as more Americanized dishes. They're willing to go out of the box, too, with some of their daily specials. Last summer they had an amazing pasta dish with white sauce and cantaloupe (yes cantaloupe!) that was dynamite. Don't forget to order a Caprese salad. It's the best in town. And dessert. Ohmygoodness they have it all- gelato, spumoni, cannolis, tiramisu, lemon cake. It's all incredible!!! It's a bit pricey at dinner, but totally worth it. I've been for both lunch and dinner and went away very happy every time.

Very good place to eat. We love the Marco Polo side as they have good food quick. Hero sandwich rocks!! Yum

First of all, the food is spectacular! Seriously, you won't find better Italian food in KC. And it is consistently good. I've been there several times, and have often taken clients there. But there are a few things you should know ahead of time. The service is inconsistent. If you get one of the servers that have been there a long time, you'll get the best service in KC. But some of the newer servers are a bit scattered. It seems there may be a breakdown in how they get trained. The tableside Tomato Mozzarella service is amazing, but also inconsistent in the portions, although you get charged per person. I've ordered it often and have gotten the exact same size portion for two people as for four people. For some reason they chill the red wine. Our last waiter told us they keep it at 48 degrees. So, plan on waiting awhile to let it warm up and open up. The back room - with a view of Brush Creek - is really noisy, and for some reason they don't clean the dust bunnies and spider webs off the windows and crevices. So if you're sitting by a window, be prepared.

We have returned for our 5th visit and were impressed yet again. Our waitress Marlo was outstanding. The table side Mozzarella experience was outstanding and food was excellent.

We came to Jaspers to celebrate my husbands promotion. It was absolutely delightful. The food was authentic and delicious and the service was graceful. This is a fine dining establishment. They do not rush dinner. They allow you to take your time. And the serving staff is very knowledgable. I found it appealing that the table next to us were regular customers- even the chef came out to great them. Awesome experience. I would defiantly go back.

To most people in KC, this is the best Italian joint in the city. It's been a KC standard for who know's how long and the family that runs the place is an incredibly show of pride in what they do and who they are. This restaurant is one of the biggest staples of KC and my family and I have been there more times than I can count, especially when I was younger being a Rockhurst grad. Thing is, I can't give it 5 stars. Everything about the place screams 'best italian' and yet I personally never felt that, and I mean that in a way that shouldn't be taken disparagingly. For some reason, the flavors never spoke to me. My favorite dish is Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo, and I've never really liked it at Jasper's. There's a blandness to the Alfredo sauce that just doesn't sing to me like the Chicken or Veal Parmesan. Another of my staples, an Osso Bucco, has always been a bit dry to my liking...I guess I'm just particular about those kinds of things, there's just a savory-ness to it that I'm not getting. :/ The thing is, everything else is damn good. Every red-sauce dish in the place, the Marsala dishes are awesome, you can't get that good in places like Chicago or NYC. Regardless, this place is a damn good restaurant because you know the owners care, the staff is well trained and the restaurant itself is a Kansas City staple for good reason. This place is well worth your time.

5stars. Wow can't believe I haven't been here before, I feel I have been wasting my life away until now. The slow roasted pork shanks were amazing. I had the pork shank at Ditkas in Chicago and they claim theirs is the best anywhere. The one I had here at Jaspers was twice as good. The lighting here is not low, I think some people may need to clean their glasses or something. We went for Valentine's Day and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Jasper stopped by every table in the restaurant to make everyone was enjoying their meal.

My husband and I went here a few weeks ago and loved it! We some how missed that reservations are recommended and showed up around 7p on a Saturday night. However, the manager told us to grab a seat at the bar and he would get us in within 20 minutes. The bartender was excellent and while they didn't have a menu he could make almost anything. I got some kind of cheese and sausage crepe that was amazing. My husband got shrimp Alfredo and said it was good. The desserts were also very delicious. At one point two waiters got into a bit of an argument over who was in charge of which tables near us but it was brief and we were able to overlook it since everything else was so good. We will definitely go back.

Holy Moly this place is good. I went here recently with my girlfriend on a Friday Night. We had early reservations but the place was already filling up. Our waiter was very knowledgable and attentive (almost too attentive). I was sad that they weren't doing their table-side mozzerella but the waiter explained that since tomatos weren't quite in season they weren't doing it quite yet. I applaud their commitment to quality with that. If I'm going to pay $10 per person for that I want it to be the best ingredients. As for the food my girlfriend and I ordered a chicken dish (the name escapes me) and the sausage/peppers. Both were excellent. I wish I could remember the name of the chicken dish because it was so good I want you, as the reader, to order it. Then came time for desert. The waiter overheard that it was my birthday and he told me that I got a free piece of cake. Well, being the fat kids that we are, decided to go ahead and order 2 more deserts. We got the creme brule, the canolis, and the strawberry cake (which was the free bday desert). All three were excellent. I'm not goint to lie, we ate almost all of it. While this place is cost prohibitive for me to eat there regularly (it was I think $140 for both of us but that did include 4 drinks, 2 salad upgrades, 2 entrees, and 2 deserts) I will go back as often as I can. All the staff were excellent (Jasper Jr came over to our table to chat) and the food was divine.

Table side mozzarella with fresh asparagus picked this morning! Incredible food! The servers were all very personable and the ambience in the restaurant was super cool. The entire staff is exceptional and although they don't strictly enforce it, not being glued to the cell phone was nice as well.

One of the finest restaurants in the united states. Cannot beat the fair prices and always hot food. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you are pleased!! You go the to dine and not just eat fast!! It is a joy to have them in Kansas City!!

We've eaten here 3 times and every single visit, I had the pleasure of eating something that was perfect in it's own way. I could go in to detail, but just check the dozens of other glowing reviews. This is one of the highest rated restaurants in the city for a reason.

My wife and I decided to go to Jasper's for our anniversary dinner. We had never eaten in the restaurant before. I had lunch once in Marco Polo's and it is good but a very different experience than Jasper's. We had an absolute fabulous dining experience. The food was superb and the service was beyond great. Leonard and his son Jasper III were great hosts and our waiter Joshua was the best. The table side mozzarella was so good and fun. Jasper III prepares the dish and even educates you in the process. Our entrees were beyond expectations as were the desserts. Being fairly new to the KC area we had many locals recommend Jasper's. We are so glad we decided to go and experience it for ourselves. Thank you Jasper's so much! Sally and Steve Wendt, Overland Park.

The service was again great as was the food. I had their house caesare salad and linguine alla San Remo they both great the salad lettuce was crisp the dressing wasn't too much or too little and the pasta was perfect al dente. Jasper's has been a great experience every visit.

My first and only time (so far) was for a business lunch. The calamari was amazing! I consider myself a calamari connoisseur :-) The bread was also top notch. Service was perfect and I am a service snob. I ordered the pesto pasta and was SO disappointed! It was the most bland pesto I've ever tasted. I order pesto infrequently but do get the, don't judge me, Kirkland brand pesto from Costco. I am so sad to say the costco brand is, in my opinion, significantly better than jasper's. I'm still confused on how that one dish isn't good when all I see are amazing reviews. I will definitely try Jasper's again!

Atmosphere 5 starts Food 5 stars Getting nickel and dimed around every corner. 1 star Only my wife and I are dining. We order two appetizers. When it came time for an entree (lasagna) we decided to only order 1 and split it because we had so much food. The waiter informed us that there would be a split charge which is typical and I'm ok with. He casually asks if we want blue cheese crumbles on our salads. I really didn't but the wife loves blue cheese and said she'd take mine! SO we say yes. He asked if we wanted cracked pepper on our dish. Nah we're good. We get the Lasagna and the waiter drops off an extra plate. I cut the main dish in half and clumsily slop it onto the extra plate. (we had 5 plates on the table between appetizers and salads) We get the bill. $2 per salad with blue cheese crumbles and $9 for the split fee! Good thing I said no to the cracked pepper! Wife and I found these extra charges deceptive and unnecessary. At 20 bucks a dish I don't expect to be charged extra for cheese crumbles. Not to mention 9 bucks to have a plate dropped of at my table that I didn't need. At least split the entree and put it on two plates for me for that price! Geeeeeze.

We chose this restaurant because it was conveniently located near the movie theater at ward parkway and we wanted to grab dinner prior to our movie. I thought this would also be a good choice because my fiancé loves Italian food :) We made reservations and we had no problem getting in and seated right away. The hostess was very friendly. I didn't expect this place to be somewhat of a fine dining restaurant....maybe I didn't do enough research but, oh well. I didn't feel like we were too underdressed. Any who, we were seated in the back near Indian creek so, it was a wonder scenery and made for a perfect romantic setting. Although, they could update the decor a bit. The tables were extremely small too. What's up with that? And, the chairs weren't too comfy. Our server was okay...I've had better service but it wasn't awful. She didn't go over their specials for the evening as she did with her other tables. Now, on to the food. The menu was pretty extensive. I decided to go with a Classic Italian dish, chicken parmesan...and oh boy was I disappointed :( It lacked a lot of flavor! I've had better chicken parm at Cinzetti's. Sorry. My fiancé had the lasagna and he wasn't too impressed neither. I can say the portions are pretty hefty! The couple that came with us had lasagna too and a shrimp dish with wild rice and some type of sauce. They agreed that their dishes were mediocre but, they apparently forgot to remove the shells from the shrimp o_O Overall, it's a nice atmosphere but, the food wasn't anything to write home about. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing but, they were classic dishes so I'm still confused. Oh, I forgot to mention the house salad. They used iceberg lettuce and it seemed like I got the core of the lettuce so there wasn't a green leaf in site lol. We won't be back unless we want to check out their desserts and maybe grab some drinks. I seriously doubt it though...

Best Italian food and Kansas City, bar none! We lived in Chicago for 26 years near Little Italy and Jasper's would embarrass many of those well-regarded establishments. Having Jasper make mozzarella cheese tableside is one of our favorite family dining memories, and that's saying a lot because our oldest son is a chef. Jasper keep it up!

I'm not going to lie... I feel extremely guilty that I want to like this place so much but I just really can't... Had a reservation on Saturday night (which was WAY easy to book online) for 6:30 and I'm glad that I made it because the place was packed! Since you're not allowed to BYOB (of wine), we decided to order a bottle off the menu that came recommended by the server. The wine wasn't overly expensive but it was not something that I'd ever recommend someone. We ordered our dinner (no apps tonight) and they both came with a house salad to start. The salad was very underwhelming since it was very apparent that it was bagged salad thrown on a plate and drenched with an oil dressing. I had the Cuscinetto Di Ricotta (homemade ravioli with a tomato sauce) and the BF had Linguine fra diavolo con scampi (shrimp diablo). My pasta was fine but the sauce was horrible. I felt like I was eating a very sweet sauce similar to spaghetti-o's. I ended up sprinkling red pepper flakes and parmesan on it just to not be rude and make it more edible. The BF's shrimp dish was very good and we ended up both sharing eating off of that. For dessert we had a "death by chocolate" and a large ball of ice cream covered in coconut. The desserts went well together but I wasn't overly impressed with either. Our server was very nice but I had to ask a few times for things more than once and he seemed a little spacy. Once again, I feel WAY guilty but I can't lie to myself and say that the meal was better than it actually was. I had lunch here once a while back and was actually pleased with it but this dinner was a huge upset. I have been to better Italian places in town and feel like I would have been more satisfied with a meal if I would have just cooked at home. The huge positive for the night was that Paul Rudd was in town and walked in for dinner with his family.

I cannot express to you how perfect this entire experience was for my wife an I. The Italian margaritas were perfectly balanced, calamari that was the best I have ever had (since I was here last anyway). My chicken parmesan was so flavorful and tender. Top it off with the chef and manager both checking on us during our meal. The whole experience was awesome. Best Italian in KC.

Great food!!!, Customer service is top notch, Wish I could afford to eat their more often. Will be a regular place for me and my wife for our next anniversary and for future anniversaries to come. The deli side is very good to, much more affordable. We will visit their more frequently. Great job Jasper keep up the good work!

Went for dinner tonight. First time there. Two adults and 11 and 12 year old children. Got there early before it filled up. Waiter got drink order. Came back and mumbled something about the calamari or something. Did not tell us about any specials or favorites. No recommendations. We asked about child portions. Said he could bring another plate. Heard another waiter telling a table they have pizza for kids. Ordered two appetizers. They came along with salads. Waiter set them down and walked off. Other tables were offered cracked pepper. Not us and not another table with older children. Had to ask three times for check. Waiter brought over desert cart. Again did not tell us they have Creme Brûlée. Manager comped us one after he stopped by table to see how we were. We had a wide selection of entrees. This is not the best Italian in KC. Food is average. Service below average. We had to wave down another waiter to get refills too.

First and probably last visit We live about three miles away, but had never stopped in. This week, when other plans fell through, we went there for our anniversary. On the plus side -The atmosphere was clean and pleasant. The server was friendly and attentive. The negative, and a significant one was the food. At the server's recommendation I ordered the duck. Sadly it was dry and bland. I requested and received a bowl of the orange cranberry sauce the kitchen ladled over it. More sauce helped the dryness issue, but still the meal was ordinary at best. My wife ordered the pork chop which she described as flavorless. It took us seven years of living nearby to try it. To be fair, we did not order any of the pastas, and perhaps would have been more satisfied. At some point we might go back and try the pasta dishes, but it may be a few years.

Little bite of heaven! Started with the lobster ravioli appetizer. It was so good that we used the warm bread to clean the plate. We ordered the lobster macaroni and linguine with scallops, calamari, and shrimp. (San Remo). Not enough adjectives to describe how delicious and fresh tasting these dishes were.Service was excellent. Managers stopped by twice to check on us. Can't wait to return to try more.

Wonderful place. I met a friend I hadn't seen for years while visiting the area for lunch. Waitress & food where wonderful. Chicken soup was very flavorful & the shrimp fettuccine was delicious. Creamy & pasta cooked just right. Meal came with three salad choices either a house salad, Caesar or spinach. The spinach was very good with blue cheese. Yum!

Went there last night, it was a very long (2 hours), but wonderfully enjoyable, dinner. My friends and I started with the cheese board appetizer, this was a good thing to share. There was more than enough for 3 people. The salad served with the meal was fine, nothing special. My entree was the pollo alla saltimbocca, it was fabulous! mmmm, buttery and good. I could have done without the fried potato things served with it, but that is just an afterthought. My friends and I also shared the oreo ball dessert. Holy crap. I will definitely be returning to Jaspers! P.S. the chef came out an spoke with us after our meal, a very nice touch!

Jasper's is nothing short of amazing. Classy, charming, and some of the best Italian cuisine that I've had in a long time. The layout is a litte strange: you enter either through the deli (which I have reviewed separately) or through the bar, which almost looks like an afterthought. The restaurant itself is elegantly decorated in a rustic Italian style, all sienas and ochres: dark red leather banquettes and cherrywood furniture fill the room. Hand-blown glass light fixtures provide a warm, cozy ambiance. Jasper's usually has a seasonal menu in rotation; Chef Jasper Mirable Jr. is a strong local-food advocate and will proudly speak about his relationship with the farms that supply the excellent produce. The freshness of the ingredients can elevate something as simple as a house salad into the sublime. The service feels very traditional, with all of the servers dressed in black vests and long white aprons. Dress is casual-upscale, and in fact there is a sign at the front of the house with a brief dress code listed: no baseball hats, no tank tops. A glance around the dining room will suggest that this code is not always rigorously enforced, but clearly Jasper's is attempting to hold the line against the uber-casual diner. This is the type of dining experience for which one ought to get at least a little bit dressed up. We started with the calamari (of course) -- here it's got a light, almost crispy batter, just perfect. It's served with a marinara sauce with just a hint of red-pepper bite -- not spicy, really, more like spicy's third cousin -- and some astonishingly fresh grated Parmesan cheese. Truly, I could sit and eat the cheese with a spoon, it's that good. We both opted for pasta -- linguine with clams for me, tortellini for The Guy -- and both savored the delicious sauces as well as the gorgeously fresh pasta (all made in-house, naturally.) We finished with an order of cannoli to share, since we were both way too stuffed for our own perfect comfort, but I wasn't going to pass up dessert. The cannoli was just as good as the rest of the meal, somehow both light and rich at the same time, and made a perfect ending to the evening. Jasper's has thoroughly impressed me, and I won't hesitate to come back anytime I want to celebrate a special occasion with dear ones, or just have an amazing dinner that I'll rave about for weeks.

We came from out of town and our parents suggested we have dinner here. The inside of the restaurant is really cool, elegant, well done, stylish without being overly hip. I had the pollo siena and it was absolutely perfect. Asparagus was delishious, chicken and sauce and pasta were all first rate, and the dish is out of this world. Service was nothing short of tops, and we were thanked repeatedly by staff on our way out. We will for sure be back. Very impressed.

Saturday night, no reservations, no problem - we got seated and with a fantastic view of the creek that runs behind the restaurant. I had heard of this place and we were in area so thought we would give it a try. From now on, we will drive the hour to get here as the service and food was impectible. This restaurant found a way to seat a large number of people but yet keep it feeling quaint at the same time. The calamari was devine - lighly breaded and crisp. The bread - warm, soft and scrumptious. I ordered the Capelli D'angelo Alla Nanni which is angel hair pasta with mushrooms, prosciutto and peas in a spicy tomato cream sauce. I typically don't order cream sauces as I perfer lighter but was so glad I did - I can't even describe how wonderful it tasted. Hubby ordered the lobster mac and cheese - can you say OMG! It was hands down the best lobster mac we've had anywhere. Yes I said we because of course I had some too. We took home enough leftovers for another meal as the portions are generous. Jasper himself came out of the kitchen to see how we were doing and if we enjoyed the meal. This says a lot about this place and their customer service. We've had chefs visit out table before but at the end of the night when it was later and we were one of the last tables but not at 7:30 in the evening when they still have people rolling in. Can't wait to return. We love italian and this has topped the italian restaurants in KC area so far. And if the mac and cheese is not on the menu - just ask your waiter if they can make it. It's rich but you will be glad you ordered it. Just walk or run a few extra miles the next day!

Again, Jasper's impresses! We brought a large group to dinner and everything was simply perfect. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty! The service was impeccable, food delicious and because the owners are there every night makes this our favorite go-to place. The fact that this restaurant has been around for over 60 years speaks to not only great food and great service but to great owners.

Jasper's is without a doubt our very favorite restaurant in the city. We've been here many times and never once gotten anything short of delicious. The service is wonderful, the atmosphere fantastic, and the food is to die for. You won't go wrong with anything you chose here, but everyone must try the tableside mozzarella at least once. It's phenomenal and the experience of having Jasper himself make it from scratch at your table is unforgettable. However, due to Jasper's desire for it to be entirely fresh, this is a seasonal dish, so do keep that in mind when planning your visit. This restaurant is truly a gem for the city and I hope everyone takes the time to try it out.

I have been to Jasper's on many occasions, mainly because my family loves to come here, and I like to make them happy. This is an overall review of the place, not just a one time experience. I have ordered the mozzarella cheesecart on every occasion, and it seems to be lacking in service and flavor over the last few visits, the last time being that Jasper himself couldn't even do it, he came by, introduced someone else, then left. The gentleman who took over couldn't stand doing it, rushed the whole thing, and it was beyond unimpressive, especially for the $10 per person price tag for flavorless tomatoes not quite in season and the tiniest amount of basil I've ever seen. I get that it's a little early in the season still, but it is July. I have better tomatoes growing in my yard than the crap they served us. Anyway, service is always a crapshoot. If you're spending money on alcohol, and buying multiple courses, you may actually catch the attention of your server and get good service. But if you are drinking iced tea, and just getting an entree, beware. You will be lucky to get even menial service. And what is this about a salad actually coming with your entree? I don't think that exists. At least, i have never been offered one. Maybe because they're so bored with the fact they have to do the cheese show, they just don't offer the salad and skip you right through to the entree. I really miss the days when servers knew how to clear a plate before the next course arrived, and god forbid they gave you silverware for the next course without you having to ask for it. For all the great reviews Jasper's recieves, I wonder if people even know what good food or service is anymore. I realize I haven't even mentioned the dishes. I am a huge fan of anything Italian, be it northern or southern style. This is your regular old southern Italian style, like lasagna, meatballs, etc., but with a vast amount of variations of pasta dishes, seafood, veal, chicken, etc. I am a huge fan of veal, so I usually order some variation of veal with capers and lemon. I know it sounds simple, but simple done right is what makes anything amazing. This is true of meatballs or lasagna or any other dish you expect of a restaurant of this caliber. I won't say that they are bad. The dishes they serve are always edible, and most everyone is satiated and well recieved on what they order, but no one leaves raving about it. It's more about the family dining experience that makes us come back. But Ithink overall, money would be spent better elsewhere, including just cook it yourself at home.

Went to Jasper's for the first time last night, and it was an overall wonderful experience. The owner greeted us himself at the host stand, which was a nice personal touch that you don't see very often these days. I had the pumpkin ravioli which is part of their Fall menu, and it was unbelievably delicious. I would go again today just to eat it again! The waiter was very helpful when selecting a bottle of wine, as well. The "death by chocolate" dessert was amazing. Overall, I recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.

Don't be fooled by the "strip mall" location of this hidden gem; once you enter Jasper's you'll quickly forget. We met some friends for a late dinner. Hadn't been to Jasper's since we lived here years ago. I honestly never think of it, mainly because of its off the beaten path and random location! What a treat to our taste buds, everything was delicious. I was in a pasta mood (sorry, I'm just not into that "no carb" mantra that they are preaching at my gym). I went traditional, linguini con pesto alla genovese. All I can say is that I loved it so much the only time I put my fork down was when my plate was clean! My husband had a pasta special that had a pulled pork ragu. It was definitely different, tangy and sweet, he loved it. The meals come with a simple salad with a fantastic garlic dressing, accompanied by crunchy dinner rolls. But the best part of the evening is the dessert cart. Don't let this pass you by (you can't miss it, they wheel the 5 tiered cart around the dining room constantly)! We finally decided on sharing the death by chocolate. Since I didn't taste anything else, I can't claim that this is the best dessert on the cart, but I can't imagine anything better. (Although I would be willing to go back and try every dessert to back up my claim)! The evening was capped off by the chef, Jasper, coming to our table to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Delizioso!

While visiting my wife's family in Kansas City, I decided to treat her to a special night of food and fun. A friend of her's recommended Jasper's as a spot for authentic Italian food and an enjoyable experience. All I can say is WOW...where to begin. I was initially impressed with the cosmetics of the restaurant. The restaurant is well kept, clean, and provides an atmosphere of ambience and decadence. I could tell as soon as I entered the building that we were in for a special evening. We began by ordering the shrimp livornese (a secret recipe unique to Jasper's). The dish left me speechless. I truly cannot put in to words how much I enjoyed this appetizer. Suffice it to say, you cannot develop a total opinion of seafood until you have sampled Jasper's shrimp livornese. Truly incredible! We rounded out our appetizers by ordering the table side caprese, where Jasper Mirabile (the owner) made fresh mozzarella right at our table. This experience was unlike anything I've seen and really made the night for me. Jasper is upbeat, knowledgeable, and is engaging and entertaining in his presentation on the making of mozzarella. Jasper's fresh mozzarella changed my opinion on what authentic, good cheese tastes like. The appetizers alone left me speechless and content with our experience. The meals were incredible. I ordered linguine and clams, while my wife ordered the cheese toretellini. Again, I was blown away with how well the meals were prepared and even further amazed by the taste. It truly felt like everything we ordered was the best we'd ever had in its respective category. Overall, I cannot exaggerate how enjoyable our experience here was. Our waiter (Anthony) was professional, helpful, and very personable. The food at Jasper's is second to NONE and the atmosphere is one of a kind. Good Italian food is easy to come by. However, the world class food served at Jasper's coupled with the inviting atmosphere created more than just a good meal for my wife and I. We didn't just have dinner, we had an EXPERIENCE. That's something you can't put a price on. I can't wait for my next trip to Jasper's.

I travel a lot and rely on Yelp and locals to assist me in finding that one place that I have to return to. This...wasn't it. The ambience is pleasant, great date atmosphere, our waiter was a little rude to customers behind their backs and to other staff members. The food was good. I had the seafood pasta out of the classic section of the menu and my friend had the lasagna. They really didn't separate themselves as extraordinary, but good none the less. The issue was the price in comparison to the quality. The atmosphere was top notch, the food... Tasted like I was eating at an Olive Garden. I was hoping for something a little more authentic then chain food. I would have liked the bread to come out warm. The blue cheese on the salad was a nice touch, but toward the end was a little over powering. If you're going to make a seafood pasta dish, amaze me by the seafood selection then win me over by the sauce. This dish didn't do either. Perhaps my expectations were too high. You be the judge. But I would rate it as more of a $$$ then a $$. Still looking for that one place in Overland Park that keeps me coming back for more.

Pretty much a 5 star experience for me from beginning to end. Let's go through it... Friday night. Service will suck, right? Uh... it was awesome. Greeting/Reservations... a manager was on the spot as host. Had the table ready to go. Waitress... Super Enthusiastic. Knew the menu upside down and backwards. Not afraid to make recommendations if you are indecisive. Service staff... plates gone when proper, water refilled like magic. Wine list... something for everyone, from a $7 glass of Chianti to a $16,000 Jeroboam of Chateau Latour. Pasta... perfect. My capelli d'angelo alla nanni had the perfect pink sauce. Rich but not too heavy. A touch of spice, acidity and sweetness... none overbearing. The right amount of peas, mushrooms and ham. Dessert... some kind of peach Napoleon. Peaches had been sliced, sweetened, and placed between pastry layers with vanilla custard and caramel. Jasper Junior came by to ask if the dinner was going well. Jasper Sr came by to say hello as well. This place had the moves down and does it low-key... without too much pomp and pretense. The food lives up to the great service. You can't ask for much more than that.

Old school, Italian feel - though, not in a musty way. Wait staff, food selection, and style of carpeting, etc., all felt older, but in good shape. Great service. Waiter was not over the top engaging, but had sufficient personality and was attentive. Manager-types dropped by on two occasions to thank us for thinking of Jaspers. Went with a group of seven. We could converse well at the table, despite the restaurant being busy. Large menu. Seems to be in a sort of Italian - though, there are descriptions with each item. I wasn't especially fond of my entree - a veal dish reported to be the house specialty. BUT, be advised, I can't remember the last time I had veal. For my taste, the meat was sufficiently tender (no knife needed), but still felt over cooked. (Yes, I was ridiculed for dining on baby cow ... one in my group kept calling my meal "Bambi". No, I'm not defensive or remorseful. ;-) Yes, I know that Bambi was a fawn and not a veal- uh, calf.) The desserts were tasty. Looked like a decent wine selection. I did notice a group room, that had a door. Seems like a nice option - to have privacy for the group, and the group can be noisy without affecting the other patrons.

We just finished lunching on leftover Jasper's pasta from dinner two nights ago and I was reminded of how really great their food is. Mary couldn't quit raving about the dish she had which was Japsper's "six-hour pork" stuffed into pasta with their "Sunday" red sauce. I got only a taste but it was really delicious. My fettuccine Alfredo was also very good and I was reminded how really different fresh pasta is from that which comes from a box. There's no comparison. Jasper's fresh pasta was cooked perfectly. We finished off the meal with a chocolate dessert that was really, really good. As we were leaving, the Kansas City mayor and his entourage came in for a late dinner. I don't think it's insignificant that, someone who can entertain at any KC restaurant on the taxpayers' dime, chooses Jasper's.

My all time favorite restaurant in Kansas City! I can see why all the celebrities go there when in KC. I try to always take my visitors there as well! I LOVE our KC BBQ, but if there's only one restaurant you can try in KC, this should be it! I took my brother there when he visited and he thought the food was better than at Harry's Bar in Venice! I love the seasonal dishes (who knew cooked cantaloupe would taste amazing) as well as the mainstays. The Tuscan Vinaigrette is a staple in our house. I even have to mail it to my daughter in NYC! Speaking of which, she has more than a few good Italian restaurants to choose from in NYC but she can't wait to get back to Jasper's and have his Lobster Ravioli. While that dish is amazing, his Lobster Cappuccino has spoiled me for lobster bisque any where else! Jasper's is truly the premier restaurant, bar none, in the entire Kansas City metropolitan area! Phenomenal food, phenomenal service, phenomenal atmosphere and a phenomenal family tradition! Thank you Mirabile family for making a commitment to providing the ultimate dining experience for everyone who dines there! You make us all feel like celebrities.

Ok, so here is the question-we've been living in KC for 7+years and have never been to Jasper's. Why not you ask? Great question and I have not a single reason why not. Well tonight we rectified the situation - thank goodness. From the table side mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes from Kurlbaums, to the linguini with clam sauce we were in Neapolitan heaven. It may have been our first time but it will certainly not be our last time as the next time I want to try their meat dishes.

Authentic Italian food at it's best. I came here for my birthday with my family and we had the best time. The food was absolutely divine as was the service and the house made limoncello! I can't get enough. The server had great recommendations. We all had such a nice time. It's national cannoli month in September, so be sure to go because they are having a different cannoli every day of the month! We had the red velvet cake cannoli- so delicious. Can't wait to go back!

Jasper's is a wonderful, low key, cozy, and romantic Italian restaurant. Definitely has the feel of a vintage, or old world Italian restaurant - or of a place you'd expect to see in the Godfather or the Sopranos (without the Mob connections of course ;) ). Ok, now to get to the more serious part - the Review! So, my boyfriend and I went to Jasper's for my 26th birthday as I had a strong desire for a cheese plate. And Jasper's definitely didn't disappoint. We paired our meal with a few wines, my boyfriend ordered a Cabernet and I had the Pink Moscato. We followed the cheese platter with lasagna for him and I ordered the linguine diablo with shrimp. Both dishes were truly amazing and were paired with excellent bread and a small salad. We finished the night with a surprise birthday cake from our waiter - I have absolutely no idea what kind of cake it was, but tasted of strawberries. The service was impeccable, although I felt that our waiter was a bit too attentive. But honestly, it might just be me. We were definitely well taken care of and Jasper, Jr. came out and checked in with us. Loved that I found a wonderful quiet Italian place, will definitely be back!!

My favorite Italian in KC, Jasper's has been serving up Italian for 50+ years in KC and is now stronger than ever. The chef, Jasper Mirabile, personally mans his restaurant nearly every day. I see him almost every time that I go in. Current Chef Jasper is grand son of original Chef Jasper. 1st, definitely order the table side mozzarella, there is a pretty good chance that Jasper will personally prepare it. It is truly divine! Jasper tells a story that a few years ago he was in Italy and inquired about a guy preparing cheese in the corner of the restaurant. He was told that the guy was making fresh mozzarella. The waiter says that the guy's back is to the dining room because no one is interested in seeing cheese made. Jasper thought Americans would feel differently and the concept of table side mozzarella was born. The fresh cheese, fresh tomatoes and basil sprinkled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar is truly great stuff. The entrees are finely prepared Italian favorites. Seafood, steaks and pasta are all delicious. My favorites are the St Peters fish, Italian Sausage or the fresh daily pasta special. The desserts are out of this world, my favorite is the strawberry borghese cake.. My 9 year old son loves the tartuffo which is vanilla gelato coated with chocolate cookie crumbs.

Another great meal at Jasper's! As an appetizer we had the Pumpkin Ravioli - this is a MUST try for everyone simply delicious & served with a white sauce over the top! We ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese which was creamy & cheesy with chunks of lobster and the Pork Shank which was so tender and flavorful - both wonderful! Dessert was Choccolatta Di Tartuffo - white chocolate gelato rolled in chocolate biscotti and drizzled with a chocolate sauce - YUM!!! Love this restaurant not only because of the great food but for the excellent service also.

Don't judge by the curb appeal!! It's hard to spot from the street and doesn't look worth checking out but once you enter, it's a completely unexpected experience. It's decor is warm and welcoming. The service is attentive and the food is just what you'd expect from a locally owned restaurant that's been around for decades: delicious!! The portion sizes did not leave me needing more either. The wife and I stopped in for the first time around the Christmas holiday and everything was decorated all fun and festive. They really went all-out to get into the winter spirit and that was an unexpected bonus! All in all, I great place to go for a random night out for dinner and we will definitely be back!!

I feel bad but I have to knock Jasper a star. I hope he'll forgive me. Normally we have a great experience, but our last one was not up to par. Hence, I remove one star from this review. The problem? Our server was not attentive, did not notify us of extra charges from his suggestions, and was generally just not very helpful. And little things like that make the difference between four and five. The food itself was, of course, perfect. We will return. We'll just make sure to have a different server.

Jasper's Is a culinary beaut! I've been here 3 times over the last 3 years and each time I think it gets better. Last night may have been as close as my taste buds have gotten to super-taster status. Let's start with the table side mozzarella... It's not on the menu, but you can request it. It is fun to watch, learn and eat! Between the mozzarella, the house salad and the bread that I ate before my entree got to the table I was stuffed; however, a true American overeats when the opportunity presents itself! So, I trudged on through the main course which was cannelloni this time. The hubs had veal and our friends dined on the modo mio pasta special and the house made sausage. Each a divine course that made getting out of the booth all the more difficult. The bottom line here is that I really love Jasper's. As long as I am able to afford it, Jasper's will be my go-to Italian restaurant. Never a bad meal, never poor service, never left hungry... Kudos Chef Jasper & team.

Another first for me: Jasper's. It was exactly what I imagined. Started with the table side Chef made mozzarella. HOLY MOLY. It's the only restaurant in North America that makes fresh mozzarella at your table and it's phenomenal. Then moved on to Penne alla Marie which is Penne pasta in a tomato cream sauce with scallops and mushrooms. Delicious. Ended with Death By Chocolate which is apparently a deadly chocolate brownie surrounded by more chocolate and I ate all of it. I will say service started off a bit shaky. We weren't visited by our gentlemanly waiter for about 10 minutes after being seated and it took three asks for us to receive water. I also asked for a box at the end of my meal but after not receiving it I asked what had happened to my boxed dinner and the waiter was very apologetic, saying he misheard me. C'est la vie! All in all a delightful evening. The highlight definitely being the table side Chef made mozzarella.

Closest thing to Italy... in Kansas City My husband and I came here for dinner one night because we were craving some good italian. Having just returned from the Amalfi Coast in Italy, we had some pretty high expectations of Jasper's. From the hostess greeting, to the bartender's banter then all the way over to our server (and a visit from Jasper himself), the service is TOP notch and the food is just divine. I could have closed my eyes and envisioned myself back at one of the ocean-view cafes with our spectacular meal. The calamari is lightly breaded, not overbearing with coating, and has such a nice crisp to the bite. I had the Involtini di Pollo... the melted fontina with prosciutto all wrapped up in a chicken cocoon was melt-in-your-mouth, I-cannot-stop-eating-it's-so-good. My husband had the veal parm, which was also amazing. If you're in the mood for pasta, try their cannelloni. The combination of the delicate pasta with a sausage filling and creamy sauce.... yum. I could go on and on, but you should really just try it. Make sure you save room for dessert. The tartuffo (white chocolate gelato rolled in milk chocolate shavings and drizzled with chocolate) is worth the trip alone!

Jasper's is one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very attentive. We had plenty of questions about the menu and the waiter answered all of them and also gave suggestions. The food is amazing and it was difficult to choose something from the menu because everything sounded so good! Great experience, I'll definitely be going back very soon!

First of all, and this is not meant to be a negative on Jasper's or anyone who eats there, but If you can't/don't eat carbs - don't go here. I have no idea what you would eat. It is also run by wonderful traditional Italian gentlemen so they may have some dress codes such as no hats to be aware of which are different for Kansas City. Just a heads up on those two things that if you fall into one of those categories it may not be the best first impression. Hands-down best dessert a caprese salad in the Kansas City metro! I don't know how a restaurant can make you feel any more special than having Jasper himself make table side caprese salad especially for you and your guests. He goes through the whole process of the cheese curds, the olive oil and the tomatoes used to make the best caprese possible. The whole time you will be salivating trying to pay attention to the background information of the appetizer you are about to consume. Don't go here and not take advantage of this treat. Now on to the dessert...there are so many options and so many unique treats that everyone will find an option they can devour. It is very hard to find a restaurant that serves coconut cake that doesn't have an Asian twist to it and Jasper's not only has it on a daily basis, but nailed it! If you are not a coconut fan they have a delicious strawberry cake (free if it is your birthday) as well as gelato options, tiramisu and too many more to remember. We eat here at least 3-5 times a year and mostly on special occasions (some we make up just for a reason to go). We are always greeted promptly and sat immediately. We always go in the fall because of their seasonal pumpkin ravioli - another must-do. I could go on and on about their spicy diavalo sauce and wonderful noodles of every type but I think you get the gist of my excitement and eagerness to get others to go from the above. Go here and go often as there are always seasonal menu specials.

This wasn't my first visit to Jaspers, but it might be my last. It's unfortunate because Jaspers is a KC institution and for the most part I've generally liked what I've ordered. They get two stars instead of one because their pasta dishes are always good, and their sausage is amazing. However, I've been removing refined carbs and most meats from my diet which limits my options at Jaspers. My lunch partner had never been to Jaspers and he mentioned he had a negative impression of them based on feedback he had heard from some other people. Unfortunately our lunch did not do anything to sway him from that impression. Our waiter was friendly and attentive enough but completely missed on the description of the fish special. He said their special was a "pan seared sole served with an olive oil based sauce and potatoes & onions". It was enticing enough that we both ordered the special. Unfortunately his description wasn't quite accurate and when the plate came is was disappointing to say the least. I saw the first glimpse of trouble as he was pulling the plate off the serving tray - parsley garnish ringing the plate. When I see that my immediate reaction is "welcome to 1991" and my second reaction is "they're trying to put some lipstick on a pig". Let the presentation speak for itself, I don't need it dusted with a tasteless green garnish. When he set the plate in front of me I understood why they feel the need to dust it with parsley. The plate was much too large for the portion, which for a piece of fish at lunch was adequate (until I got the bill, more about that in a minute). But it looked clunky. Fried potatoes, pepper & onion spooned on a third of the plate and a piece of fish on another third. The rest of the plate was empty. For a place like Jaspers I expected a better presentation. Now, based on the server's description, I was expecting a pan seared piece of fish with a lovely sauce rather than a pan seared BATTERED piece of fish with a small side bowl of tasteless glorified mayo. My first bite from the thin end of the fish was so crunchy I thought I had bit into a bone. I had to take one more quick "test chew" to discover that it was simply a piece of crunchy batter. Sole is a fish that cries out for a wonderful seasoning and sauce but this fish (and unexpected batter) were incredibly bland. It just wasn't good. At all. The biggest problem was the bill. Now, I understand sole is expensive. Our portions were probably somewhere in the neighborhood of $7 cost. Imagine my shock when the bill arrived at $50 for the two plates and a $1.95 salad upgrade. I was guessing the fish special would be around $12-$14 a plate, not $22. My fault for not asking, but their fault for not delivering anything close to a $22 plate. It's All Star week in KC and Jasper just lost their spot on my team.

The best Italian food in Kansas City. Jasper and the entire staff at the restaurant will go out of their way to make sure your dinning experience what you want it to be. The food is outstanding! If you haven't tried them, do so soon. You won't be sorry you did. P.S. - Save room for desert.....you won't believe the selection on the cart and it is every bit as good as it looks

Nothing drives me more crazy than not being greeted when ordering from a counter. The girl behind the counter at 330 on a Saturday clearly wanted to be anywhere else but at work. Fat Marco Polo - really solid sandwich. Little spendy for what it is but a good sandwich nonetheless. Cannoli - reviews of best ever??? I don't think so. 3 out of 5. Love the charm of the place. Feel like it is a little overpriced.

My aunt, a 65-year Kansas City resident, and I came here for dinner when I was recently passing through and visiting her. It is conveniently located near her home in the southern metro area, and when I found it on my "Around Me" app and asked her about it, she said she had forgotten it was so nearby, but that it would be absolutely delicious, and she was right! We had a reservation, and when we arrived the large restaurant, with many rooms was not full, but it was by the time we left on that Friday evening. We had a very friendly waiter, Tom, who talked to me about our common interest, bicycling (he gave me some path and route tips), and we enjoyed every aspect of our meal. The host and the chef also came to check on our meal, and we felt very attended to in every way. I had a lovely glass of red wine, and my aunt joined me. I split my starter with my aunt, salmon carpaccio, which was very flavorful and fresh. We then both had lovely, fresh, green salads. I ordered a linguini pasta with pesto, that was so tasty with basil and oil. My aunt ordered pasta her way, with meatballs and red sauce, and we were both delighted. We didn't plan to have dessert, being so full from our previous courses, but when our waiter heard I was leaving to ride on a six-day, 400-plus mile bicycle tour, he promptly brought over the dessert cart and said that I had better load up! We laughed and listened attentively to his dessert descriptions, finally settling on the cannoli with a side of cannoli ice cream. DELICIOUS! I also ordered espresso the way I like it -- with cream -- which is gauche, but Tom was very gracious! It was a special event for my aunt and me to be together, and we could not have chosen a better place to celebrate our time together! This gracious, delicious, friendly restaurant should not be missed! I intend to return every time I'm in Kansas City.

Jasper's, like Bella Napoli in Brookside, has a "fast/casual" take-away counter in the front. So, if you need something delicious and fast, you can get it. However, if you want the white tablecloth, late afternoon lunch where you can confidentially discuss a business deal or some personal matters, this place is perfect. The food and service is impeccable, and the staff courteous and discreet. Best cannoli in Johnson County. One of the top three Italian places south of the River. (I always have to put that disclaimer in, because I gotta look out for myself, you know? Fuggetaboutit!)

I had been to Jasper's on 2 separate occasions.. was only able to dine there on one of those two trips. What happened on that other visit? Well, I was essentially kicked out. You see I was wearing a hat, and they had a sign that read "no hats". Hahaha I thought that was pretty funny. It was like 11:30 am on a Monday lunch & to say the place had "plenty" of open tables would be an understatement. I mean, come on... That's pretty pompous. Some of the best restaurants in the WORLD don't employ such a "policy". However, the Dude in the tank top and board shorts seemed to be enjoying his lunch just fine. Needless to say I found it all pretty lame and borderline discriminatory. So... I tweeted about. To add insult to injury Jasper HIMSELF emailed my employer (who shall remain nameless but go ahead and take a guess) and I was pseudo reprimanded about it. That still makes me laugh. Its your policy. Stand by it. Alright, moving on, We were there on a Saturday night and the room was really buzzing. I had... expectations. However, I must add that the second you walk in the door you are confronted by a full LIFE SIZED cut out of Jasper himself. "What's that?", you ask? Oh ya... That's right. It scared the shit out of me. I didn't know if I was supposed to take my picture with it or if it was something they rented out for bachelor parties. I found it odd. Wouldn't that be like you coming over to my house and right there in my living room was a full life-sized cut out of ME waiting to high five you? Anyhow, our server was very nice and super accommodating to us and especially my 5 year old daughter, which I always appreciate. The bread there is fantastic. I don't know if they make it in house and I don't really care. It was awesome. Rustic, warm, delicious. We had the linguine w Clam Sauce and Rigatoni w sausage and meatballs. Both of which came with a house salad OR you could "upgrade" to a Caesar or spinach salad if you wanted. **remember this salad info for later, k? Both the salads were pretty good. The lettuce was fresh and crisp (sadly that isn't always the case at restaurants) and they even came with a chilled salad fork. Neat. The linguine w clam sauce was ok. The sauce tasted a little too much like claim juice from a can and I could've really used some more olive oil to help coat the noodles as the thin runny sauce was basically just sitting in a pool under the noodles. The rigatoni, served with red sauce was also just ok. The sausage had a touch of spice and was quite delicious. The meatballs were.... Eh. I dunno man... They were kind of soggy. They had no texture which led me to believe they weren't seared off first and were just dropped in the sauce to cook buck naked. It was just a spongy, mushy, bland ball. I know, yuuuuuuuuum. At the conclusion of our meal our server, noting that we were with a 5 year old, graciously asked if we would like to see the dessert tower or not. We did not wish to see it and I thought it was super classy that our server was tactfully able to spare us the possible tears. And now we arrive at the check. When presented with the check I noted that we were charged the full price for a Caesar salad... When earlier I had been told I could "substitute a Caesar for the house salad for an up charge." when i brought this up to the server she said that the "up charge" was indeed the FULL price of an ala carte Caesar salad. I offered that's like me saying 'you can substitute a 2 karat diamond ring in place of the house salad... You just have to pay $2,000... The full price of the ring." I further went on to explain that since I payed full price for an ala carte Caesar salad shouldn't I get a house salad too? "people don't often choose to have 2 salads", she replied. PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE THAT YOU ARE ROBBING THEM. Just because you don't get caught, that doesn't give you license to steal from people, does it? You know, it's not about the $5 bucks and maybe I'm over reacting a bit I just feel that it's a matter of principal. Ironically, on the only other occasion that I have dined at JASPER'S I was the victim of price gouging as well. Had a house salad with lunch, waiter said "would you like me to put some bleu cheese crumbles on your salad?" I said yes. Got the bill, extra $3. COME ON! You can't do that. An up charge for a salad at almost every other restaurant on Earth is a few bucks. Definitely Not the full ala carte price. Do things however you want, but when your practices are in direct conflict with what I believe to be the "restaurant norm" you have an obligation to tell you customers. I worked in the restaurant business for a loooooong time and that is weak. That's misrepresentation and taking advantage of customers. That's not right. I would give JASPER'S 3 stars but I had to stick with 2 because of the trend I have witnessed in their billing practices. That's not cool.

This is a wonderful Italian ristorante! It's classy, but not pretentious and the food is delicious. Or should I say, delizioso! We were warmly greeted at the hostess stand and promptly seated for our 8:00 reservation. Our server was great and very professional. We had the calamari as an appetizer. It was very good. For our entrées, my boyfriend had the linguine con vongole (clams) and I had the linguine alla san remo (a wonderful seafood pasta). Both dishes were excellent. Jasper is an expert at finding just the right balance of flavors. I love that! We had the tiramisu for dessert and, well, you know where this is going--it was very good, too. Jasper spoke to us, asking us how we were enjoying the meal, and concluding with a "Grazie!" This is one of my new favorite restaurants in Kansas City. My boyfriend grew up in Italy and Jasper's is his top pick for good Italian cuisine in Kansas City. We plan to go back!

This was the worst restaurant experience I have had while living in Kansas City. We waited a few minutes before anyone even said anything to us upon arrival. It took about 15 minutes to even get a water and it felt like our server just did not care about us. Yet everything on the menu sounded out of this world so we were really excited to order. The shrimp appetizer took a while to come out but was satisfactory. But our plate was left on the table for at least 10 minutes after we were done. Our meals were inedible. The veal just looked tough and shriveled. My boyfriend is known to pretty much go after a grain of rice left on a plate so when I saw him only take 2 bites I knew it must be bad. The tortellini I ordered was probably the worst thing I've ever eaten and I'm currently home sick from work after spending all night and morning vomiting. Seriously even writing this description is getting me lightheaded, but the tortellini tasted the way a burning pan smells. Our server didn't care in the slightest that we asked for the check with full plates. I guess you must be 45 or over to get considerate service in this place, but I have no explanation for the horror of the food. Very sad.

I've eaten at Jasper's on several occasions, always at the insistence of friends who wanted to try it. We went again about three weeks ago, and we were once again very disappointed. First, our reservation time wasn't honored. I can understand a few minute wait, but we were seated 25 minutes late. It has an extensive menu, but the food is very overrated, and just o.k. No where close to some of the other nicer Italian restaurants in town. The final straw was when we just read that they were cited in February with 10(!) serious food violations from the Health Department! Needless to say, we won't be returning!

We were there last night and were treated like family. Food quality is excellent. Jasper uses local tomatoes and is intimately involved in all aspects of his restaurant. He is on site seemingly 24/7. It is One of America's top 20 Italian Restaurants! Become Famiglia! Eat at Jaspers!

I took my family to Jaspar's last Saturday evening for our 12th wedding anniversary. I had the scampi alla livornese dinner. It came with a nice wild rice in a fabulous cream sauce. Excellent! The service was great, and I even got to greet Jaspar and thank him personally for the dinner experience. That is a mark of a great restaurant - when the executive chef is on hand and personally thanks you for stopping by.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Jasper's with another couple. Everything we ordered was outstanding and will go back. Tip: sit on the inside of the dinning room not in the four seasons room with the patio chairs if you plan on being there for a while. Those chairs are uncomfortable.

This was our second trip to Jasper's and it did not disappoint. I had the strawberry cake for dessert and it was incredible. I would highly recommend it. For dinner, I had pasta stuffed with osso bucco. This was off the seasonal menu. Incredible and savory dish. The service was phenomenal and our waiter was probably the greatest server I've ever had at any restaurant. No joke. I can't wait to go back.

In my personal opinion: I have hesitated to review this place because I have such mixed feelings. -I enjoy the atmosphere. Comfortable, upscale, romantic. -The service has always been great. If I come in wearing jeans or a nice outfit I always get treated well, and I appreciate that. -The food is always top notch. I like their house salad, I love their tortellini. Yea, It is a little over priced but I don't mind paying it because it is so good. While you are there you MUST order the mozzarella appetizer that he MAKE FRESH AT YOUR TABLE! It is amazing! It is worth going just for that. All of this alone I would give Jasper's a rare 5 star rating... but here is why I can't do it: They refuse to split checks. That really upsets me. To Jasper I would like to ask: Are you telling me that you think you are so much more smart and clever than EVERY OTHER RESTAURANT??? That you found a way to make people act and order the way YOU think they should dine??? Is providing your customers with a small service offered to them from everyone else (from the finest restaurants in the world to every fast food chain) so hard for your servers? So Jasper let me get this straight, after a nice meal at your establishment (and people have MANY choices, but they chose you. And their dollar is their vote) you expect them to whip out their calculators and cell phones and fuss over who ordered what??? You refuse to offer that simple (and expected) courtesy to your guests. I organize a social group and I have purposely avoided going to Jasper's because I don't want to deal with the cluster mess of splitting the group's bill. ABSURD AND OFFENSIVE! The other thing is I read that he has a policy of no hats... Jasper... man... get over it. Is it really worth controlling your customers? Yes it is rude to wear a hat indoors... but are you also going to go around making sure that people don't put their elbows on the table and that they use the proper eating utensil at the right time? This is modern times, people are rude, deal with it or you are in the wrong industry. My take home message, I will go with my husband on a date night... but not with friends... it is too awkward to nickel and dime a bill as the closer to a nice evening.

I think the owners haven taken the focus off their core business and it is beginning to show. I have eaten there since they were a KC icon at 75th and Wornall and it was a really special place to have dinner. Had dinner last night and it was so very ordinary. Service ok - not really helpful and friendly but not awful - food very much what you might expect at Olive Garden or some hotel coffee shop. For $100.00, we can have dinner at a really good restaurant and will next time.

05/06/11 I must admit that the food that I had and the rest of my table had was just as expected. I enjoyed the food but was extremely disappointed with the service. We had reservations at 7:00 pm and had to wait in the "not so large bar" for over a half hour. We were told that there was only 1 table for 8 and we had to wait until that party left. When we were seated it was to 2 square tables pushed together, no white table cloth, just 2 tables from a lot of tables pushed together. Good to Great Food. Not So Good Service.

This restaurant was the first time Yelp has let me down. From the reviews I was expecting awesome service, fantastic food, and value for my money. Unfortunately, I don't feel like we got any of that. First off, the place is big, but has a nice upscale family ambiance. We had reservations and were promptly seated. Everyone was very friendly, but the service was slow. Real Italian food is typically slow, so that wasn't too surprising. What was disappointing was feeling deserted at several times in the evening. My water glass sat empty for 15 minutes at one point. I enjoy the slow-food experience, but I expect attentive service. Slow, we're overwhelmed, service I don't appreciate. We had an eggplant appetizer that was good, but very skimpy. For $9, I expected to be able to share, but it was sized for one. I ordered the Chicken Limonata, which should be a fresh, bright summery dish. What I received was chicken that looked and tasted like French toast covered in maple syrup. It was so sweet I couldn't eat it. I have never had such a bizarre taste/expectation conflict in my life. Anther guest had pasta that was that was well past al dente (unforgivable for "Italiano vero") with a too sweet sauce. The other dish at the table was a chicken involtini, that was actually quite good. No one seemed concerned that my dish was largely left uneaten and that I didn't ask for it to go. The Yelp reviews had me excited to try a new place. Turns out it was limpid, pseudo-Italian food. If you're looking for authentic mid-priced Italian, there are better places.

Jasper's is a class act. Truly fine dining in that care and attention are in the details. Go for dinner and ask for a seat on the patio no matter what time of year. Sparkly lights hang year round in the fully enclosed all seasons patio. This is a cozy, romantic, neighborhood feel genuine Italian restaurant. Most of the waiters are absolute PROS and have been here for years. We always recognize the faces at the hostess stand, too. Jasper, Jr. the head chef loves to walk the floor and personally greet his guests with a smile. Everything we've ordered has been wonderful and the seasonal 'celebrations' menus are always a treat. I especially enjoy the variety of cellos they infuse...you've probably had limoncello before...but, what about 'applecello' made with local Louisburg Apple Cider? Or the lovely gingerbread cello in some proseco after a holiday meal in December? YUM. This is one of favorite restaurants to get away for a date night out away from the kids. Lovely, romantic, tasty. My husband's favorite - Osso Bucco. My current favorite - Veal Piccata. We both always start with a classic Ceasar salad. We savor every course. Don't miss the dessert tray...you must share something! Literally, this and Andre's are the only restaurants in KC that I order dessert at (and run more miles for the next day!) I usually end up convincing my husband (who is ready to pop) to share "Death by Chocolate" with me. We linger and enjoy cappuccino. A quick tip - they take reservations on their website now! I think it's new and not highly used yet as I got a response about 24 hours after I made the reservation and it appeared as though it was not automated but a confirmation by email directly from Jasper, Jr.'s iPhone. Hope they keep electronic ressie's going! GO THERE...MANGIA! ;-)

My wife and I visited Kansas City last weekend and decided to try Jasper's for the first time. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and we were overwhelmed to say the least. Great service, warm atmosphere, fantastic pasta and the best coconut cake ever. We met the chef, he just won Zagats Top Italian Restaurant award. So impressive! We decided to do the table side mozzarella with Chef Jasper and boy was that a treat! He explained the whole process to us and made us feel so welcome. And that mozzarella, so warm and moist, was one of the best things I've ever eaten! Not only was the food delicious, the service was phenomenal. Our waiters name was Anthony and he did a phenomenal job. From start to finish, the entire dining experience was fantastic. Can't wait to go back and enjoy again. I will be coming back to Kansas City soon for some more great Italian food. Thank you Jasper and family!

Ate at Jaspers as part of a company dinner while in Kansas City. They had a nice private room set up with great service. The meatball and calamari appetizers were fantastic. I was pointed in the direction of an off menu entree of Sole Puntanesca that was also very tasty. To end the night when the dessert cart came by I had to try the apple strudel, this was by far the highlight of the meal.

Wonderful Italian food and amazing service. Didn't know the place was so dressy. I came in looking like a scrub and still received great service. Gargonzolla cheese on the salad was worth the extra $1.95. Excellent salad dressing. Will definitely return next time I'm in KC MO.

I was really surprised coming here because I've heard nothing but great things about the food and service here. Unfortunately I must have chosen a bad day to come in because I was far from swept away by the charm of this restaurant. We made a reservation for a party of five, but the fifth person had to drop out last minute, so when we arrived we informed the maitre d' that we only had four tonight instead of five, so she told us we would have to wait at the bar for a few minutes. After about fifteen minutes of sitting around, I approached her again and asked if our table was ready (We were on time for our reservation, and had one less person, I'm not sure how difficult it is to remove a plate and set of silverware from the table...) and she must have been very offended. She responded very sharply that she had not forgotten about us and if we would wait patiently a table would open up. So after a few more minutes of waiting she told us a table was ready for us, then seemed shock that we only had four diners instead of five. In a haughty tone she remarked that if we had informed her we only had four diners, it wouldn't have taken so long to get us a table... Beyond that, the food was lacking any real boldness of flavors, and for what we paid it was very disappointing. I don't plan on coming back to pay a ludicrous amount of money for poor service and bland food.

I've been going to Jasper's for nearly 20 years, yes, that does date me a little. What to say about this place? It's owned by Jasper and Leonard Mirable, who are two of the more personable owners in the city. The service here is usually outstanding, but it probably helps to be a regular. My typical dinner at Jasper's is to get there a little early and have a drink at the bar. My favorite tables are the booths right by the host stand. What's nice is that one booth is always kept open for regulars and we nearly always get that booth, such a nice perk. Leonard will come out and give you tips on the wine list, which is outstanding. Jasper usually comes out and offers to make something off the menu. One evening he even did our entire meal off the menu, he just asked what we were in the mood for and he prepared a five course meal. It was awesome. If you aren't in the mood for traditional Italian dishes, they have a great peppercorn encrusted KC Strip that is drizzled in a brandy sauce that I order often. Bottom line, Jasper's offers tradition, a great atmosphere, great service and outstanding food and wine. I'd recommend it to anybody.

This was an amazing place. It is really a surprising place after walking in. The bar and waiting area is small. The dining areas are great. Especially in the back room there is a flowing creek and romantic view. They actually let us sit in one of the picturesc tables along the window. What really makes a difference is Jasper. He is the head chef. He meets everyone and makes you feel like family. I am was so impressed with his personality and how he treated my family. Of course the food was spectacular. They made a very nice dish for my wife who is vegetarian. I choice this prefix meal which was only $25 for appetizer, entry and desert. Cant beat that. I have to say it was a pleasant surprise was the food atmosphere and the people. Try to bring a large group so you can get this home mozarella dish that is made at the table.

OK, I was a long-time KC resident and I've been to this place a few times. I know people really seem to like Jaspers, but I'm kind of "eh"... Definitely pricey, and the cost:value is way off-kilter in my opinion. I had some kind of chicken lemon dish which was so-so. Jasper (presumably the owner, and he's looking pretty damned good for his age if so) made the mozzarella at our table, which was kind of interesting from a chemistry perspective and pretty tasty. I'd come back if somebody else was paying, but I'm not so much into flash without substance. Great service, but Jasper's isn't even all that flashy. For all their 5-star prices you'd think they might move out of that 3-star strip mall. The waiter was pretty nice though :)

We had eaten at the old location many years ago but this was our first visit to 103rd St restaurant and it was great! Super service and food. We shall return soon. On two subsequent visits I am even more impressed with quality of food and service. We are rapidly becoming regulars.

I'm still keeping my standing at 4 stars, although I wish I could bump it up to 4 1/2. Really, the thing that keeps me from a full 5-star rating is that the main dishes I've had there aren't all that great. By no means are they bad. They're quite good, but that's all I can say. I can't say they're excellent, that I dream of them often and wake up in a puddle of drool. And if the rest of my Jasper's experience was at the same level as the main dishes I've had, this would probably be more like a 3-star review. But the rest of my previous review stands, especially after another successful experience here. Our server was one of the friendliest and most attentive I've had in recent memory, offering suggestions on the food and wine selections. When he wasn't serving any tables, he stood close (not close enough to be intrusive) by to make sure his tables always had what they needed. And it worked -- our iced tea glasses never went below half full, and there was always plenty of bread in our basket. I went for the prix fixe menu again, because I couldn't pass up the lobster bisque and tartufo again for the affordable price of $26 (also including a main dish and salad). Again, the main dish -- chicken and fettuccine in a tomato vodka cream sauce -- was pretty tasty but not all that impressive, but perhaps it's my fault for getting the prix fixe selection. I wasn't unhappy, though. The lobster bisque has a delicious whipped cream topping on it, and is chock full of meaty lobster chunks, making it richer than Oprah and the best I've ever had (again, my fiance who hates seafood was in love with this). The tartufo again did not fail to impress, despite my general indifference to ice cream and chocolatey things. Full and happy.

I came here for dinner last night and saw a display of the world's most expensive canolli. It was quite impressive, but I'm not sure if it was edible. The restaurant is quite nice inside even though it didn't quite look like it would from the outside. The best part about dinner was when we had fresh mozzarella made right at our table. I believe this was the pomodori alla caprese classici salad and it was so good and plentiful. I got the pesce san pietro and it was fish breaded with a lemony caper sauce. I thought it was ok. I will definitely come back for the the fresh mozarella!

I'd like to give 3-1/2 stars, but that doesn't seem to be an option. We had pasta for lunch, which was delicious (although pricey, about $15 per person). The problem is the service. Our server disappeared after about 10 minutes and we never saw him again. We thought that maybe there had been a shift change, although we weren't there at an odd time. Another guy delivered food, but he never checked on us again. Would we have liked another drink? Would we have ordered dessert? Who knows! We finally asked the one server (not ours) in the dining room if we could get our check (after waiting a long time before flagging him down). It's a shame that the visit ended on such a disappointing note, because the pasta really was good. But I doubt that we'll be rushing back any time soon.

YUM YUM YUM! You must go to Jasper's! Our service was fantastic along with the great atmosphere. We had the jumbo shrimp appetizer with the famous white sauce. Unbelievable. Once you finish the giant, FRESH shrimp, dip your bread in the remaining sauce. You will die of happiness. For dinner I ordered one of the daily specials since asparagus was the fresh veggie. Chicken cutlets, tomato cream sauce and liguini with the fresh asparaus. OMG. My husband ordered the Fra Diablo with fettucine and shrimp. OMG x 2. The portions were large enough for us to be stuffed and bring some home. We also ordered the chocolate crusted vanilla gelato "ball" of goodness. I thought I would die on the spot. So yummy!! This is a great asset to local business and a KC stand out.

"Check please! " "But sir, you have finished your meal. Was something wrong?" "No, no, everything is fantastic, but it is so good I need to go slap my momma for not making Italian like this." Specifically, I'm talking about the Petti Di Pollo Alla Piemontese, otherwise known as the greatest dish ever made. I love it that much I only order this one dish despite all the other delicious entrees on the menu. Their strip steak comes in a close second. Yeah, I know there are better steak places, but none that have the Italian flair. Also, Jasper's has without a doubt some of the best trained, most attentive and knowledgeable wait staff in Kansas City. I always feel like I should be more dressed up when I go here. Even though I'm not wearing jeans or a t-shirt, when I see others that do, I feel cheated. This place (while in a strip mall) has class and deserves the same. Great place, great food, great service.

Ate here a few months back and Jasper himself came out and cooked up a special meal right beside me. I had a salad with the blue cheese crumbles that was UNBELIEVABLY GOOD! ALSO I'm not sure what pasta dish I had, but OF COURSE this was also amazing! I will come back ALL the time! Best Italian food in Kansas City.

I was excited to try this place out. It was later in the evening when we went in wanting to get drinks and dessert and the water was completely confused by the entire situation. Almost sort of rude. I am not sure if there was a miscommunication between him and the front, but he kept making comments about how he was completely thrown off by the drinks and dessert, and didn't move past it the entire night. I am curious to go in and have dinner sometimes but I am slightly apprehensive if that is the type of service I will receive.

What an awesome place! My parents took our whole family (myself, husband and three boys ages 12,9 and 7) there for their 45th wedding anniversary. The service was spectacular, the food was absolutely delicious. We were fortunate enough to observe the table side mozzarella -- wish we had ordered this (see the photos). The desserts were unbelievable. I had the coconut cake and it may be my favorite dessert of all time.

I know I'm going to get TRUE Italian food when I have to walk through their deli/market first. To see all the desserts and anti-pastas in the cold case makes me feel like I'm in a delicatessen in New York, or just an old world family restaurant. I ordered Jasper's summer pasta dish: the cantaloupe and prosciutto rigatoni tossed in a light Romano cream sauce. Because the melon is slightly sweet, but not overdone, and it really counters the saltiness of the prosciutto and cream. Yum! My only beef is I have a hard time shelling out $18 dollars for a pasta dish, where you know it cost $6 to make. But you're paying for excellent service and just a great experience! I would definitely return!

I've seen reviews and comments that refer to Jasper's as fine dining, but I wouldn't necessarily call it that. I think the space is comfortable, the service is warm and hospitable, and the food is outstanding, which is why I give it 5 stars. But if it were fine dining, I probably wouldn't be inclined to just pop in for dinner on a whim. The place really is that comfortable and accessible. It's currently heirloom tomato season, and Chef Jasper Mirabile Jr., being the slow-food advocate that he is, is taking full advantage of some of the best summer produce in the country. Right now, Jasper's is offering a tableside Caprese presentation where Jasper himself cuts the heirloom tomatoes and actually makes fresh mozzarella right in front of your eyes with fresh cheese curds. I've been to a lot of restaurants and seen a lot of tableside presentations, but this is fantastic! Jasper tells you about the farm the tomatoes come from, and what actually makes a great mozzarella, using piping hot water. It was really impressive, enjoyable, and delicious. After that I had a great angelhair pasta with mushrooms, pancetta, local peas, and parmesan. Out of this world. My date had the Veal Parmigiano which was equally as good. Jasper's really is all it's cracked up to be, and Chef Jasper is the real deal. And all for a non-fine dining price. We'll definitely be back.

What a wonderful find. Don't let the strip mall fool you, this is a wonderful local restaurant. Very good food, nice atmosphere, friendly people. Passing through town on business and this has been one of the highlights of my travel year thus far.

We went to Jasper's for an early dinner following an afternoon Royals game. It may have been cap day at The K, but not at Jasper's. Take 'em off, fellas, which is OK with me. But I digress. Let's talk about food and drink. The martini, my standard cocktail at Italian restaurants, was made well. Since we'd snacked at the ballgame, we passed on appetizers and went right to the salads, which were plain but good. Our entrees were superb. Lobster with mac & cheese, the Marco Polo (spaghetti, red sauce and sausage) and osso bucco vitello. The three of us looked at each other and smiled with each bite. We also passed on wine, but I peeked at the wine list and saw a good selection of domestic and Italian vintages in all price ranges. We finished the experience by splitting the peach pastry dessert. Yum. I'm going back, and next time I'll dress a little, leave the cap at home, order an appetizer - most likely the mozzarella - and complement the meal with wine. Can't wait!

Take it form a girl who worked at Jasper's for 2 1/2 years, this fine Italian restaurant is all its cracked up to be. The restaurant used to be located at 75th and Wornall and was opened by the late Jasper senior about 53 years ago. These days, the place is run by Jasper Jr, his brother Leonard, and Leonard's son, Jasper III. The location at 103rd and State Line boasts much of the carpet from the original restaurant, beautiful Italian glass light fixtures and a large, custom-painted mural to welcome you into a dining experience. The menu is extensive with classic Italian dishes as well as interesting Mirabile family recipes. The osso bucco is to die for and the chicken saltimbocca is the most overlooked item on the menu, it is fabulous. Capella d'Angelo alla Nanni is an old family recipe and definitely the most popular pasta dish on the menu. You never can go wrong with a classic lasagna or homemade marinara sauce. Don't miss the scampi alla livornese appetizer, a rich, garlicky sherry wine-laced cream sauce over shrimp...also served over rice as an entree. The dessert cart does not disappoint and is hard to resist, the chocolate tartuffi of white chocolate gelato rolled in cookie crumbs is amazing and during the summer, they serve a peach napoleon with fresh peaches, a flaky pastry and creamy chantilly custard. Jasper's houses one of the city's best wine cellars with nearly 300 wines on the menu kept at a cool 63 degrees. The prices range from $26 to hundreds of dollars a bottle. Each month offers featured wines as well. One of the best things about Jasper's though, is the tradition. For the past 25 years, diners have been greeted by the same gruff voice of Sam at the door. He remembers every regular and where they like to sit. Jasper's has long been known for exceptional service. You are offered a cocktail the moment you sit down, they put your napkin on your lap, and keep your wine glass full. The waiter know the menu well and can give great recommendations. Many of them have worked at the restaurant for years. The prices aren't cheap, but reasonable. Go for a nice evening out and expect to spend some money, but everyone needs a splurge from time to time. Request a table by the fireplace for romance or on the patio for great ambiance - That used to be my section, so its possible the service isn't quite as good since I left :-) The restaurant definitely has the authentic Italian feeling and delivers when it comes to food. Chef Jasper Mirabile is a staple on the KC culinary scene, offering regular cooking classes through various sources and hosting a weekly radio show on 710 AM. He is active in SloFood and advocates using food from local growers. He has recieved many local, national and international honors and you will see why when you dine at Jasper's.

Fell in love with the place the first time I walked in. Great food and amazing family atmosphere. The best part is that it has a nice sit down slow side and deli for those wanting to get something quick. Not to mention all of the events they put on. I did i forget to talk about the food. Well the food is Molto molto buono.

Maybe I'm comparing to my hometown of Chicago but for this place being mentioned as the best in KC, both myself and my wife were disappointed. The food was decent but I compared the marinara sauce to something put out in the grocery store. All the food was decent but nothing WOW'ed me. Off to try the next place and won't be back anytime soon.

Came here for our anniversary for the first time. Yelp has this place down as kid friendly. The waiter was super nice and friendly. The atmosphere was wonderful. Plenty of people even on a Wednesday night. We ordered lobster ravioli for appetizer and it was phenomenal. The bread was warm and very tasty. The 3 entrees we ordered (all pastas) were OK. The pasta itself is the closest I have had to pasta in Italy. The overall dishes were not memorable though. We had every intention of coming back even though all 3 entrees were just OK. The two adults had one entree each. The third entree WE split between our two kids (two kids under the age of 5). We did not try their dessert menu because we had other plans. Now to the bill: We were charged 7 dollars for splitting the plate - even though all the restaurant did was to give an extra plate for us to split the entree. Unacceptable. There was not a kids menu, so the only option was to order an adult entree and split it. I'd rather go to Brio's where the entrees are better (and cheaper) and they don't try to rip you off.

WOW!!! what a wonderful restaurant. We were visiting our great friends in KC and it was their daughter's 33rd b-day so we went out to celebrate. They chose this place because they know the owner and, besides that, the food is outstanding. Our waiter, Nick, was excellent, extremely nice and attentive to all our needs. It was a party of seven adults and there was not one mistake.

First review after many experiences here, and not one midocre meal. They were all very good with service to compliment the food. On two occassions the owner the owner himself stopped to chat, check on the meal and service. Not your normal....manager visit to the table, but a real conversation. On one occassion he discovered a connection with one of our guests and he spend at least 15 minutes conversing and then went an extra mile with dessert and another wine recommendation. What a friendly guy. Although, somehow I think that if one of his staff screwed up that he prorbably has a "Frank Martin" glare to correct the sitaution without speaking a word. I recommend this place to anyone visiting town and locals who ask about the better italian restaurants in town. Don't pass this one up.

Not just great Italian food- its a great dining experience. Phenomonal cuisine with lots of options. In fact there is nothing that the Chef will not customize for you even if it is not on the menu. If you want an Italian owned and operated restaurant to eat at look no further.

Great food from the appetizer (lobster ravioli) to the house salad to the entrees (Diablo & Risotto). I rarely give out 5 stars, but Jasper's earned it. Definitely one of the better meals I've ever had in KC.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
